According to a few sources the second quarter of 2007 saw a moderate pace to Venture Capital fundraising. While WRAL carries the headline “Rush to Raise Venture Capital Cools…” this could be a bit misleading, as Q2 was actually stronger that Q1 of 2007. It’s true that both quarters pale in comparison to the same time periods in 2006, but raising capital goes in cycles. As was noted by WRAL, only 15 groups closed funding, so the sample size lends itself to volatility.

When you look at this news in conjunction with this report on the rosy outlook that Mid-Atlantic VC’s have of the climate, it further proves that the funding amounts are not the most reliable financial indicators.
